El popular canal de YouTube Streetcap1 fue el primero en detectar la anomalía cerca de nuestra estrella amas cercana. En un vídeo titulado“Is this a MASSIVE UFO feeding off SUN energy? (¿Es esto un enorme OVNI alimentándose de la energía del Sol?)”, Streetcap1 describe como el OVNI es de diferente color y forma al resto de la imagen.

“El hecho de que el OVNI es de diferente color y forma al resto de la línea fue lo que me convenció a publicar este vídeo”, explica Streetcap1 en su vídeo. “Yo no era un creyente en este tipo de teoría de la energía solar, pero esto me hace pensar.”

Por su parte, el conocido ufólogo Scott C. Waring, editor del blog UFO Sightings Daily, dijo que el OVNI podría estar utilizando la energía solar para alimentarse o para recargarse de alguna manera.

“Este OVNI salió disparado del Sol ayer, pero fue descubierto por el canal de YouTube Streetcap1”, escribió Waring en su blog. “El OVNI podría haber estado usando la energía de los soles para alimentarse o para recargarse de alguna manera, pero sale a alta velocidad. Amateur video shot by a member of the public in Houston, Texas, shows the unidentified object glistening as it travels through the sky.

MESMERISING footage has emerged showing a mysterious UFO hovering in the sky and appearing to change shape.

The UFO appears as no more than a bright speck against the blue background of the clear sky.

But when zoomed in, stills from the footage show the shiny object appears to change shape as it moves.

It morphs from fat to skinny as it glides along before disappearing behind a building.

The cameraman is able to follow it for several minutes before the mysterious object vanished for good.

The stunned witness described what they saw in a statement quoted on UFO spotting website the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON).

They claimed they had just stepped out of a car at 3.15pm on November 23 when the object first appeared.

The witness said: “I noticed the reflection of light in the sky. It was stationary, and appeared to change shape.

“After about 30 to 45 seconds, the object began moving very slowly, to the east-southeast.

“It made no sound, or was too far away to distinguish sound. Elevation did not appear to change.”

The witness said they eventually lost the UFO but were able to film it for just over four minutes.

Texas MUFON State Section Director Charles Stansburge is investigating.

Some stills of the object look eerily similar to another UFO which was spotted above Bursa in north-western Turkey earlier this year.

The shimmering shape was similarly seen gliding along in broad daylight, glittering in the sunshine in the middle of the day.

And the cameramen were also able to film it for several minutes before losing it behind trees and houses.

After the footage was posted online, some web users, spotting that the object was bent in two places resembling a surfer on a board, compared it to comic superhero the Silver Surfer.

Reports of a UFO attack on Turkey had exploded on Twitter on Sunday and Monday, with many Turkish residents purportedly seeing unidentified flying objects, and the UFOs apparently reappearing in other parts of the world. But new evidence suggests that the UFO sighting was a hoax all along, and that the images didn't actually come from Turkey.

Over the past few days, the hashtag "#ufoattackonturkey" had trended on Twitter, but as that was happening, UFO expert and UFOOfInterest.org admin Scott Brando had gone to work, checking to see if those sightings were legitimate, or another attempt to shock people with bizarre, yet ultimately fake news. Brando related his experience in a detailed report Wednesday from fact-checking blog Doubtful News.

"I noticed that the keywords "UFO turkey" were very frequent in the results of my research. Reading several tweets about this alleged mass UFO sighting, people shared them with the hashtag #ufoattacktoturkey."

As it turns out, the original "UFO attack on Turkey" story came from SecureTeam10, a UFO "hoax site" with its own YouTube channel. The video of the alleged UFO sighting has since garnered close to 500,000 views, with more than 7,000 users giving the clip a thumbs-up and another 500-plus users disliking it. A second video, promoting an "update" on the original report, has also gotten tons of attention from YouTube users; it is substantially longer at 11 minutes, and channel administrator Tyler Glockner tried to clarify his intentions in posting the first video, as well as the rise and fall of "#ufoattackonturkey" as a trending hashtag.

In the second video, Glockner also asserted that he "highly doubts" that the Turkish UFO sighting is a hoax, citing the volume of photos that had come in, alleging to show the lights over Turkey. He also insinuated that censorship is the reason why "#ufoattackonturkey" had lost its spot as the top trending topic on Twitter, even suggesting that it's an example of how the media is controlled by the government, and that "they" may be hiding something people shouldn't know about.

As Brando had discovered, it was all a ruse, one that was perpetrated by a Turkish Facebook group called "goygoyrail." The group had posted a statement in Turkish on Monday, November 28, confessing that the UFO attack on Turkey was just a hoax, and something they had pulled off for "fun." Doubtful News also noted that a good number of the Twitter accounts that helped the story trend on social media were new accounts, and that "pseudo-news" sites such as Headlines and Global News had supported Glockner's claims of government cover-ups.

Cover-up or not, it does appear as if Twitter has removed all tweets pertaining to the now-debunked UFO attack on Turkey. Sensing the potential of fake news, it would appear as if the microblogging service acted quickly to nip things at the bud. Reddit also did its part to douse cold water on what turned out to be a hoax, closing a thread on the supposed UFO sighting.

Further, Brando told Doubtful News that he was able to reverse-engineer things to deduce that the photos of the bogus UFO attack came from old sources, and didn't come from Turkey at all.

"I immediately remembered these old sightings. This is an old Italian case I know very well. It was a launch of a little hot air balloon to celebrate one of the patron saints. And this one was over Santiago in Chile: it's the Chilean Air Force that usually performs several activities and ceremonies to celebrate anniversaries and new air school graduates."

In conclusion, Brando believes SecureTeam10 is the "worst" among UFO hoaxers, not only because of how the claimed UFO attack on Turkey went viral, but also because of the YouTube channel's massive popularity - currently, the account has 639,293 subscribers.

"Everything goes viral, and (SecureTeam10's Tyler Glockner) has become a source for many English tabloids which guarantee him many views," Brando lamented.

NASA and other space agencies face the daunting challenge of protecting life on Earth from potential alien life forms and at the same time defending potential aliens against contamination from Earth microbes.

Scientists have identified 25 gaps in knowledge when it comes to limiting interplanetary contamination by human crews during future space missions.

NASA, with international and industry partners, is developing the capability to take humans deeper into space than ever before. For instance, the agency aims to have astronauts bring pieces of a captured asteroid back to Earth from lunar orbit in the 2020s, as part of an effort called the Asteroid Redirect Mission. And crews returning from Mars could bring back samples collected by the upcoming Mars 2020 rover mission.

These extraterrestrial samples might shed light on the formation of the solar system and perhaps yield clues about the origins and evolution of life on Earth and beyond. However, astronauts have to make sure they collect samples in ways that do not potentially allow alien microbes to spread uncontrolled on Earth. They also have to avoid bringing Earth microbes to other worlds, because such contamination could disrupt the hunt for signs of life in any samples gathered from those sites afterward. “The benefit of having humans in space is that they’re much more flexible than robots, but they could contaminate Mars with Earth life,” said Catharine Conley, NASA’s planetary protection officer.

Although there are detailed planetary protection requirements in place for robotic missions to the moon, Mars and other celestial bodies, there are currently no such requirements for human missions to Mars. More than 100 researchers held a three-day workshop in 2015 to help lay the foundation for such requirements.

The researchers identified 25 gaps in knowledge when it comes to preventing interplanetary biological contamination during human space missions. These gaps fall into three overarching areas: monitoring microbes and human health; investigating how contaminants might travel to, from and on Mars; and technology and strategies for controlling contamination.

When it comes to monitoring microbes and human health, knowledge gaps include knowing what technologies and procedures astronauts should use to collect and analyze microbes in a way that protects the human crew and limits risks posed to both Mars and Earth. The researchers also noted there are knowledge gaps when it comes to options for diagnosing and treating crew exposures to microbes, and on effective, safe microbial disinfectants.

“A really interesting development that came to light was all the work done in the biomedical community to investigate the human microbiome and environmental microbiome - what microbes live in people and their environments,” Conley told Space.com. “Ten years ago, the technology to analyze these microbiomes was not well-established, but now there are devices on the International Space Station with microbial monitoring capabilities.”

When it comes to investigating how contaminants might travel to and on Mars, knowledge gaps include learning how Martian winds might potentially disperse microbes and other contaminants and pose risks to human health. Moreover, it remains uncertain how the harsh conditions of Mars may or may not limit the spread of very hardy microbes that might get transported around during human missions.

“Recent findings that are coming back from the robotic rovers we have on Mars are giving us hints that the Martian environment is not understood in detail to the level we would want,” Conley said. “For instance, bleach flying in the dust in Mars is potentially a human health hazard.”

When it comes to technology and strategies for controlling contamination, knowledge gaps include how the duration of the human stay on Mars might impact risk of contamination and what level of escape of microbes into the Martian environment might be acceptable, given how many would likely die out.

“The capabilities we are developing for people for the Asteroid Redirect Mission are good testbeds for ones we can develop for Mars,” Conley said.

By closing these 25 knowledge gaps, “we will be able to establish clear quantitative guidelines on planetary protection that will lead to eventual international consensus standards for human missions beyond Earth orbit and particularly in support of a collaborative journey to Mars,” Gerhard Kminek, the European Space Agency’s planetary protection officer, said in a statement.

The scientists detailed their findings Nov. 2 in a report that summarized the 2015 workshop.
