Photos taken from NASA's Curiosity Rover appear to show a furry critter haunched over sitting among the rocks on the Red Planet.

Alien experts insist it is not a rock and the creature is proof there are animals "alive and well on Mars".

A NASA car-sized robot has been prowling the surface of the Red Planet since 2012 and has produced a trove of "alien discoveries" spotted by UFO enthusiasts.

Prolific alien hunter Scott C. Waring revealed his latest find on the blog UFO Sightings Daily.

He described the creature as a "groundhog" or "marmot" – but the creature could also be a badger or another type of small woodland mammal.

Waring was behind the alleged discovery of an "alien moon base" in pictures taken by a lunar orbiter from NASA.
